She lived a lie
Which she was always forced to believe
All the time, all the way
But she never had a doubt.

She believed in the roses, but
Never saw the hidden thorns
She embraced the light, but
Never captured the darkness it held.

She hugged the soft sand
Which actually was rough grass
She kissed the waves
Which were her own tears.

She thought it was a fairytale
Only she wasn’t a fairy
And it wasn’t a tale,
She continued living this nightmare.
