“To live, I’m scared.”

Published October 19, 2014 by Shreya Rajvanshi

She puts on the red lipstick,
And wears her white top.
A little black skirt to compliment her legs,
She waits for the show to begin.

It’s dark outside, her bare arms are cold,
She looks for a car to stop by.
Straightens her posture,
And walks around with style.

Her sight spots a young man,
Looking for some company for the night.
She claps her hands, takes a deep breath,
And works on her charms.

She gets into his car, and they drive to his house,
Confident on the surface, but she is shaking on the inside.
She knows what’s in store for her,
As she starts blushing like a new bride.

He drives inside her, with lust covering the passion like a blanket,
They take it all the way till 4 in the morning.
People might call it “making love”,
But she finds it “haunting”.

He sleeps besides her, exhausted after playing around,
And she keeps staring into absolute nothingness.
Silent tears of misery pouring out of her eyes,
A dress of shame is what she wears.

She hurries up, finds his wallet,
And steals away everything that marks her worth.
She once again starts shaking loudly,
As she has always done by birth.

Finally, she again puts on the red lipstick,
And wears her white top.
A little black skirt to compliment her legs,
She waits for another show to begin.

  • A strong, emotional piece that makes me thankful for the blessings I have. Your words: And steals away everything that marks her worth.
She once again starts shaking loudly,
As she has always done by birth.
    are haunting.

    • I’m glad I did it justice. You’re very brave, not everyone is strong enough to go through this everyday, not everyone can come out and say that they’ve been there. You’ve earned my respect.

  • Don’t know why i always felt bloggers who don’t put their original profile picture write so beautifully.
I never can write like this that is all i know 🙂
